As part of the District of North Vancouver Traffic Calming Program, this project supports Vision Zero’s goal of improving road safety by collecting and analyzing traffic data outside 16 elementary schools. Using a Miovision Traffic Camera, we will monitor traffic flow, driver behavior, and pedestrian interactions over a 32-week period (two weeks per school).
The data collected will provide insights into near misses and hazardous conditions, leading to a comprehensive traffic condition report. This report will include an overall safety score and specific recommendations to enhance pedestrian safety, particularly for schoolchildren, helping to create safer school zones across the district.
