The project aimed to ensure that all municipal signage meets current standards. A workshop on sign standards andidentifying problem roads was held first, followed by a consultant review of signage on every street. The consultantprioritized sign and marking upgrades to meet new road standards.
During a site visit from a Traffic Engineer on our 2024 Vision Zero project, we were made aware that some of our municipal signage is not the correct application. Over the years, the District has attempted to bring attention to pedestrian crossings, congested traffic areas, high collision intersections, and other problematic roads through the use of signage. While the focus was on creating awareness and improving road safety for drivers and pedestrians, there may be some signs, regulatory vs suggested signs, and other road markings that have been incorrectly applied.
The overall goal of the project is to ensure all the municipal signage meets current standards so that:
This overall goal was achieved and the District will now begin replacing signs with the correct signage application.
