Enhance community safety, navigation, and cultural pride by installing 10 new road signs on upcoming streets featuring our signature canoe/fish outline, while also updating crosswalks with a fresh, vibrant coat of paint. With an awarded budget of $20,000, this project integrates culturally significant design with essential safety improvements.
This initiative addresses the infrastructural needs of over 700 community members in Haisla territory by installing 10 new culturally appropriate road signs on emerging streets. Each sign will showcase a distinctive canoe/fish outline, reflecting traditional Haisla motifs, and will be developed in collaboration with local Elders and youth. In parallel, crosswalks will be refreshed with a new coat of paint using vibrant Haisla colors (red, black, white, and blue) to enhance pedestrian safety near schools and community centers. Together, these updates reinforce our cultural identity while significantly improving public safety.
